The Government of Sindh is inviting applications from renowned academicians, experienced academic leaders, and dynamic professionals for the position of Vice Chancellor at NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. The ideal candidate must have strong managerial, financial, and leadership skills to enhance the university’s academic and research standards.
Positions with Qualifications
Position: Vice Chancellor – NED University
Appointment Duration: 4 years (extendable for one additional term)
Age Limit: Maximum 62 years
Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate must meet one of the following requirements:
- Academic Leadership Track:
- Must be eligible for a full Professor position.
- Ph.D. from an HEC-recognized university in a relevant field.
- Registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
- 20 years of experience, including 10 years in an administrative, financial, or academic leadership role (Vice Chancellor, Rector, President, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dean, Chairman, Registrar, Principal).
- Public Sector Cadre Officer Track:
- BPS-21 or above officer with a Bachelor’s in Engineering and Master’s degree in any discipline from an HEC-recognized university.
- Research & Management Leadership Track:
- Master’s degree (preferably Ph.D.) in a relevant field.
- 15 years of experience in academia, research, civil society, or management leadership.
- Distinguished research and publication record.
Note:
- If a cadre officer is selected as Vice Chancellor, they must resign or retire from their current service.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhancing quality education and research development.
- Establishing national and international collaborations with industries and renowned institutions.
- Developing a sustainable business model for university operations.
- Gathering and analyzing industry data for research-based policymaking.
Required Skills
The ideal candidate should have:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
- Understanding of financial management and budgeting mechanisms.
